No matter what decade it is, parents will always be scared and confused by the weird trends of their children and often come up with bizarre explanations for their behavior, sometimes even banning toys, fashion, or media because of its supposed connotations. One such moral panic was the jelly bracelet of the early 2000s, known by some concerned parents and news outlets as "sex bracelets." Janine and Kate discuss a variety of bracelet trends from the 2000s as well as their experiences with sex ed.

Ivy shares her experiences on set and her role in the movie. Later on, as Maggie McGill joins the discussion, we all share our thoughts on the representation of plus-size people in the film and how, ultimately, things could have been a lot worse.

For the first part of Janine's examination of Shallow Hal (2001), she speaks with Amanda Iman of Amanda's Picture Show A Go Go. Though Janine watched this film as a young, misguided chubby kid, Amanda avoided watching it because she was put off by its trailer. We peel back the complicated layers of a simplistic comedy and lay the ground work for next week's more in-depth episode which will feature a special voice from the cast of the film to give us more insight on Shallow Hal and whether or not it has a positive message.

Janine usually takes any excuse to bash 2006, but she recently watched an actual good movie and wanted to apologize. Kate, however, refuses to apologize for anything, noting that good movies do not make good podcast episodes. We discuss some of the good movies from 2006 in one fell swoop.
Remember Glee? Neither of us do, but we remember the way it permeated society and then seemingly disappeared overnight. We remember being forced to listen to bad covers on the radio. Kate and Janine complain about Glee, bad covers of good songs, and talent contest shows.
Even if you're having the worst Valentine's day ever, at least you're not being chased by a pickaxe murder, right? Doyin from Pour Life Decision joins Janine to celebrate February 14th by watching My Bloody Valentine 3-D (2009), a slasher film so weak it hides behind its 3-D effects and hopes you will forgive it for a weak plot and bad acting. But when you're watching a 3-D movie on a 2-D screen at home, you cut right to the bloody heart in a box of chocolates: squishy, overdramatic, and certainly a waste of perfectly good sweets.
Kate once developed a fixation on the music video for Lady Marmalade (2001), so of course she had to discuss it with Janine. A tie-in for the Moulin Rouge (2001) movie, this remake of the classic 1974 Labelle hit features the musical talents of Pink, Mya, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilera.
Kate and Janine both suffer from a cold this week, so they bring back a true documentary on what happens to the body when it's ill: Osmosis Jones (2001), a gross partly-animated film focusing on a white blood cell cop catching a villain virus before it kills his host.

The only thing Kate loves more than torturing Janine with bad 2000s media is true crime. In today’s minisode, she discusses the Bling Ring crimes, where a group of teenagers targeted and robbed celebrities’ houses and were later rewarded with reality television and a movie. Who says crime doesn’t pay?
